Songs of Eretz is a quarterly digital magazine dedicated to bringing a little more good poetry and art into the world. The magazine publishes current Poet Laureates, former Poet Laureates, and poetry prize winners from around the world to distinction alongside hand-picked illustrations and art.
I submitted to the Songs of Eretz summer and fall issues and was rejected both times.
Why did I keep submitting?
Persistence is the key to success. I learned this lesson when I submitted to the e-zine MookyChick in 2020. After a rejection, I submitted a better-suited poem and met with success. Proper application to the challenge at hand brings results!
I submitted to the winter issue at Songs of Eretz despite previous rejections because the rejections helped me improve my writing and develop a better feel for what the magazine is looking for. By refining my ideas and my poems, I hit the nail on the head with precise language and creative interpretation of the theme. It takes time and practice to hit the right stride, but nothing is sweeter than the satisfaction of overcoming rejection. I can do this!
The Winter (Place) issue is packed with sharp writing and lyrical tone. I hope you pause your scroll down the page as words catch your eye. Experience the writing.
