Silk Dance is inspired by this month’s image prompt displayed in black and white above. In exploring the image, I discovered a creature posed at the cusp of movement, hesitant and unsure of where to begin the dance. What would the dance look like, I wondered, if this being vitalized and livened into freedom?
I have this great love of movement. One of the most graceful and freeing forms of movement is dance. And, while I love dance, movement shapes our experience of life in many ways.
Ink streaming forth to create as the pen moves across the page, cloth tangling and billowing in the wind, hair streaming out, the grass pressed flat, waves thrust upon the shore . . . this is all movement. It is beautiful and wild and free.
I invite you to read Silk Dance, published at Visual Verse. Read like the wind, arise out of inevitability, and burst into being!
Red curl and gold
Tango, silken, across my back.
A thread comes loose from my stocking
I feel it snap against my skin and tear free
Screaming, it escapes on the wind . . . please continue reading here and do feel free to share your beautiful thoughts!
